We were one of the first to move to the estate in mid 2001 and it used to be a lovely place to live but now it's horrible and we can't even sell our house because people have said the area is nasty.  In 2004 we had our back fence removed by a burglar, they came through the house and ransacked the kitchen, stole my husbands bike keys, helmet and our credit cards, through the front door and stole a brand new Honda racing motorbike.   The kids are the biggest problem here and some peoples ideas and values.

I've just found out this afternoon, that one of the RAF guys I work with had his garage broken into last night.  All his power tools were stolen.  The dog didn't even wake them up.  His wife is now so afraid and feels so vunerable.  Anybody if any information, please post a reply or inform the police!!!

What is this estate coming to?

We are trying to make the estate a better place to live by using this website and the parish council to find things for the kids on the estate to do but unfortunatly it is taking alot of time.

As a youth living in Wyton, though I only return home at weekends, I find that there is very little to do. Though I do not venture out of the house much for this reason, I can understand why other youths would choose to cause trouble, though I do not agree with it. I understand that there is a summer youth activity programme, but I do believe there should be more awareness of programmes such as this.

I would also like object to the stereotypical views that everyone seems to have of the youth of today. I certainly do no believe that all of the crime is committed by youths, although we have had a problem with youths in Hampshire Road particularly.

This website needs to have increased awareness with the population of the village, I am willing to help out on this account, just email me.

Finally, despite the fact that we are in an economic crisis, the sole thing that teenagers need in our area are jobs. This would keep youths occupied, give them life skills, and also a greater understanding of finance and how crime affects people socially and financially. I have been looking for a job for over a year, and there is simply very little available for us to do.

Very good points made by Wytonyouth, he is totally right.
The one thing that kept me on the straight and narrow was having a job to bolster my pocket money, it felt good having some independance and being able to pay for things because lets face it everything nowadays seems to revolve around money. I am always having to fork out money for different activities for my kids.
I don't understand why other agencies are not making use of this site, there is not one comment from the RAF Commonunity Liason Officer (Adrian Whittacker), Council Officials, Youth Organisations or the Contractors working on behalf of this village. I was reading the newsletter for Wyton and Houghton and there was not one mention of this website!!!!!!Unhappy

i agree with you on that did you get the leaflet that came throught the letterbox the other day about 1 of the houses in cornwall road now being made into a police house for people to go and talk to the police re problems on the estate they are quick enough to get that sorted but when it comes to getting the kids something to do it takes years. Summer is coming and the kids need something to do i see the station are running activities during the summer hols but a cost, some of us cant afford to pay the prices they asking. But i bet if we moaned that nothing being done they will say well there was stuff advertised but if you cant afford to put your kids in whats the point, also it hasnt been advertised on here just the internet at wyton on camp where i work so civilian families who dont work on wyton wont get to see it great yet again the station thinking of themselves.

You might try one of the real estate trade groups. Police are not likely to keep publicly available statistics on such a specific crime. It probably happens far to often, but when compared to over all crime it would be a drop in the bucket law enforcement wise.
