Hi

I had problems with my Sky Broadband for 12 months. eg if it disconnected it took literally hours to reconnect. And was very slow. According to BT I was too far from the exchange. I eventually rang Sky and complained very loudly and threatened to close my Sky account. After this, a BT engineer came out, did something to the line outside my house and since then everything has worked great & I've had no problems since. It shows it can be done!

Hi
I am currently going to be moving to Bedford Ave Wyton in Dec and will require broadband for my business.  I am self employed and need access to the internet through out the day and evening.
At present I am currently with o2 and have been informed this may not work or if it does at less tha 512kb.
Can anyone on Wyton recommend a provider that will be of help for me at at a resonable speed.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help, it is greatly appreciated.

I have never posted a forum question so hopefully I have done this correct.

elginflyer, I would just let O2 to try and get you a broadband connection. Lately my broadband has been up and down sometimes as much as 1.4mb to a lowly 470kbps. I have been told O2 customer service is quite good. If you do get connection problems don't get fobbed off until at least a BT engineer has visited your house and been to the green box next to the post office at RAF Wyton. I originally was told by BT that I couldn't get broadband because I was too far from the exchange but after taking it up with BT head office a engineer arrived connected me to the right connection within that green box and I was connected. It just means BT need to be a bit pro-active and investigate properly.

Hi
Thank you for your reply I will keep you posted as to the o2 connection.  It is going live on the 5th Jan.  At present I'm using a 3 mobile wireless modem 5Gb and the signal is excellent but still want my o2 connection this is unlimited and is better for the business.

Ref' Broadband.  I understand that most of the phone lines on the estate go onto the camp before going to the exchange.  This means that the length of the phones lines is on the limit of the distance from the exchange that is acceptable to receive a good Broadband signal.  All I can suggest is that users continue to complain to BT.  It's not the ISP's fault, unless the ISP is BT.  If enough people complain BT may act.  A letter to your MP may help, given the government's promise that we will all have very fast Broadband in the near future.

We are currently on Tesco Broadband 0.5M because we found that this was the only ISP that worked for us in Bath Crescent.  It's a bit slow but better than dial-up!

Don't give up; keep complaining!
