Hi to all residents Just read some of the comments and noted concerns from some of the youths about lack of amenities which understandably causes frustrations and can lead to anti-social behaviour. I have checked with the HIVE and understand all youths can now attend the Station youth club and that is obviously a step in the right direction. I hope the WOH youth take advantage of this offer and especially given that it's getting colder now and it would be a better meeting place than the play parks or street corners. The estate has lots to offer and an excellent primary school and both Service and civilian communties need to help each other to enjoy living together because there are worse places to live. |

Just a quick "Hi!" from an old resident! I lived at 50 Churchill Avenue for a couple of years back around 1980, with my step-dad (who was with XIII squadron), my mum and my sister. My name was Wills back then...my step-dad adopted me shortly after we got posted away!
I was just checking the place out with Google Maps. Everything looks exactly as I remember it (even my old school!) except that the play parks look much more modern now. All the streets named after counties bring back loads of memories. I learned to ride my bike on Norfolk, and walked Somerset to school. Sorry to read about the social difficulties. Needless to say, when I lived there it was all RAF, and wasn't quite as bad. A neighbour did nick my sister's tricycle for his own kids, though. You'll find antisocial types everywhere. So, now I'm in my mid 30s, married, and I own a house hundreds of miles away. Tschüß! |
