I agree this is a great idea but looks like more input is required from the occupants of WOTH. I am fed up with the lack of respect some young people have for the area in which they live and the small minority who are spoiling it for the rest of us and giving the youth of WOTH a bad name. There seems to be graffiti springing up all around with fresh graffiti being painted on the side of the garages off Bath Crescent only this week. Its unsightly and badly done and can hardly be called a work of art.
On a more positive note for a small community we have lots of good parks for the younger children, open spaces, and we have tennis courts and a basketball court which are free. I know all these are outside and somewhere indoor is required but why not make good use of the facilities we have got and organise some tennis tournaments. Is there anyone out there who would provide free tennis coaching for the kids? How about 5-a-side football tournaments with training? The kids could organise some of these things themselves.
Sadly I don't have all the answers and many kids would think adult organised games uncool, but unless some positive thinking is injected I fear that petty crime is going to escalate and the estate go downhill.
I would be interested in your views.

There is a proactive move from the Parish Council to instigate youth orientated projects on the WOTH estate. The problem is that when dealing with large organisations these things take time. Youth workers are being co-opt in to help co-ordinate activities, but at the moment they having to gain the trust of the youths.
I would be nice to hear from any youths who have something to offer the community. Or have something to say. |

Im part of the service families on WOTH and I am appalled by the lack of respect these youths have, especially at 11:30pm when they are being fowl mouthed and roudy on our road and waking my young children!
I've lived on & off camp and I have to say would this would never happen if all the houses were enclosed on camp and it was all service personnel & dependants, the estate is going down hill because its not all service orientated anymore.
The MOD should have never sold off houses as its just brought trouble in (no offence to people who arn't trouble) but we all know what I mean! Too me the MOD need to buy them back and then it can stop spiralling down hill in to a "council estate!" Edited by who25 - 26 Nov 2008 at 2:18pm |

Welcome Jamie, It's good to see that the youth on the estate are joining in the forum. Hopefully you can give us your views and also take some of the points of the residents on the estate. I hope you can encourage others to join and also use the Youth Pages set up for you.

Hi everyone, I'm currently thinking of moving to Wyton, I have dog walked occasionally on the estate for over the last three years, I noticed Parts of the estate look run down and messy of late and i have also read about crime on the rise? This is a concern as I thought Wyton had good community spirit?
